How to change a regular Adwords Account to an MCC account
If you already have an AdWords account that you use with your Google username, you will notice that you cannot create an MCC account for that same username. Being able to upgrade your AdWords account to an MCC account should have been something much more easy and straightforward to accomplish. The steps below are not supported by Google (as far as I know) and you should definitely keep a backup before proceeding.
You will have to untie your primary Google AdWords account from the Google account you want to use to create an MCC account. In order to do that:
- Create a new Gmail account. (If you are not interested in keeping your old AdWords account this can be just a temporary account for you). If you are needed to enter an email you can try this temporary email service (You create a temp email account, which expires after 1 hour)
- Go to your current AdWords account and invite the new Gmail user (from step 1) to be an administrator to your AdWords account (My account > Account Access)
- A confirmation link will be sent to the new user (from step 1). Once it is clicked the new Gmail user becomes also an administrator to your account.
- Login to AdWords with your new AdWords account (from step 1), go to My account -> Account Access and remove your original AdWords login email from this AdWords account.
That’s it!! Go to the the MCC sign-up page and create a new MCC account with your desired Google account.
Hope it helps…
