AI leads to revenue increase and cost reduction in marketing
In the past five years, AI adoption has increased twofold, and of those AI adopters, 70% see an increase in revenue and 28% see a cost reduction.
GroupM predicts that AI will impact at least of all ad revenue already in 2023!
AI computing power will soon outperform humanity’s computing power
All the machines in the world have 2 zettaflops of computing. All the humans have 160,000 zettaflops. It’s not clear which is working together better, consider that a wash. The machines still have 16 doublings to go to catch us. (Source: George Hotz)
LLMs + Profitability
So far, AI hasn’t been profitable for Big Tech. Microsoft loses around $20 per user per month on GitHub Copilot, according to the WSJ.
GPT-4 is among the largest and most expensive AI models to operate, demanding significant computing power. The WSJ quipped that using this model for basic tasks such as summarizing an email is like “getting a Lamborghini to deliver a pizza,” suggesting that using the most capable AI models can be overkill for simple tasks.

Dark visitors on the web from LLM bots
More and more people are using LLMs to search for information because you can get what you want faster and with less ads and bandwidth (see video for a clear comparison).
This new way of searching and browsing the web leas to website visitors that are not tracked by websites. A couple of interesting stats on this topic.
- 30% of top websites are blocking GPTBot (GPTBot is a web crawler used by OpenAI to download training data for its LLMs)
- 10% of top websites are blocking ChatGPT-User (ChatGPT-User is dispatched by OpenAI’s ChatGPT in response to user prompts)
Here is also a list of all the AI agents available and how they can be blocked using the website’s `robots.txt` file.
